Data sources and accuracy

All catalog metrics originate from public Steam store endpoints, official Web API responses, and time-series samples recorded by PCGDB.

• Data may be incomplete, delayed, region-specific, or subject to upstream API variation.
• Historical player counts and price series exist only from the first recorded sample forward. Valve Corporation does not provide a public historical API, and PCGDB does not synthesize backfill.

Limitation of liability

Musical Pig LLC and PCGDB assume no liability for any loss, damage, financial decision, purchase, sale, or third-party reliance related to this site or its contents — including but not limited to store prices, active player counts, title availability, region-locked SKUs, depot build IDs, seasonal sale dates, and development cost or revenue estimates. All site data is accessed and used strictly at your own risk.

Financial and cost modeling

Studio “cost to make” and “Steam gross earnings” figures are independent algorithmic estimates generated by PCGDB.

• These figures are not factual, not audited, and not official financial data from Valve Corporation or publisher ledgers.
• Public developer interviews and corporate filings, even when cited, are used strictly as modeling inputs.
• Do not rely on these estimates for investing, acquisitions, contractual deals, tax filings, or formal business reporting.

Player count estimates

Forecast lines on a game page or on Compare (Estimates) are independent algorithmic guesses built from PCGDB’s own player samples and a tag / hour-of-week profile. They are not Valve forecasts, not a Steam archive, and not a prediction of commercial performance.

• The equations are a damped daily trend of each day’s 24h peak times a typical hour-of-week shape. They are a sketch, not a model of demand.
• The page may show Rising, Falling, or Holding from the slope of typical daily 24h peaks, and a compact likely range. A one-day spike does not set that slope. Those labels are still guesses.
• Do not rely on these guesses for investing, staffing, server capacity, or reporting. How they are drawn is on the FAQ.

Catalog scope and neutrality

PCGDB operates as an objective, data-driven index. We do not apply editorial scores, subjective badges, sentiment analysis, or proprietary classification labels to listed titles or studios. Catalog metrics come from API responses, store metadata, and the transparent models in the FAQ.

Owned and wishlist overlay

Paste a public Steam profile on this website to overlay owned and wishlist ids on charts and deals. That is a website feature, not a published API. It requires the short-lived site cookie so this browser can call the API as the website. Scripts without that cookie are refused. Ids and the last pasted profile URL stay on this device. The steamid is not stored on the server. Private or empty profiles return nothing. Six imports per hour per address.

Cookies, local storage, and privacy

PCGDB does not use user accounts, collect advertising IDs, track device identifiers, store precise location, or run user telemetry. The iOS and Android apps are a WebView of this catalog and do not add extra data collection. The API stores hourly totals per route template and Steam appid when the path has one (for example /apps/{id}/players plus appid 730). Those rows contain a count, an hour, and an appid. Not an IP, user-agent, or cookie. The same address is ignored for that template and appid until the hour ends, in memory only. PCGDB is intended for a general audience. Mature and 18+ titles are hidden by default across all lists and directory views. They stay hidden until you both acknowledge your age and turn the 18+ filter on. Full store descriptions and extra detail for those titles also require that acknowledgement.
