Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern access to PCGDB (https://www.pcgdb.com), the public API, and the official iOS and Android apps (together, the "Services"), operated by Musical Pig LLC ("we", "us"). By using the Services you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use them.
1. The service
PCGDB is an independent catalog of PC game data: live player counts, regional store prices, sampled history, depot builds, and algorithmic estimates. It is not a store, not a marketplace, not a broker, and not investment, tax, or legal advice.
2. Independent operation and trademarks
PCGDB is an independent data catalog. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Valve Corporation, or any game developer, publisher, or rightsholder listed on this site. Steam and all third-party game titles, logos, and trademarks are the property of their respective owners. Display of those names and assets is for identification and cataloging only.
3. Data is provided as-is
Catalog figures come from public Steam endpoints and from samples PCGDB recorded. They may be incomplete, delayed, region-specific, or wrong. Historical player and price series exist only from the first sample forward. Valve does not publish a public history API, and PCGDB does not invent backfill.
Studio cost-to-make, Steam earnings, and player-count forecast lines are automated guesstimates. They are not audited, not publisher books, not Valve forecasts, and not a promise of future players. Do not use them for investing, acquisitions, contracts, taxes, staffing, server capacity, or formal reporting. You use the Services at your own risk.
4. No accounts
PCGDB does not offer user accounts. Watchlist, Compare, Owned/wishlist overlay, and filter choices stay on this device. The Privacy Policy describes what is stored where.
5. Public API
JSON endpoints over HTTPS. No API keys or accounts required. CORS supports GET, HEAD, POST, and OPTIONS. Standard rate limits apply at 120 requests per minute per IP address and 120 distinct titles per hour. JSON responses are cached for 30 seconds; the CSV export is updated as a 5-minute snapshot.
Over the published limit the API returns HTTP 429. Search query strings are capped and are not stored. Do not bypass the limit, impersonate the PCGDB website, or treat the catalog as a bulk scrape target. Library import is a website feature and is not part of the published API. Requests without the short-lived website cookie are refused. Website add-missing may queue every missing title from a public profile, capped at 20,000 ids per request. Written permission from us is required before you resell, rebrand, or republish the API as your own product.
6. Acceptable use
- Do not use the Services for anything unlawful.
- Do not attempt to disrupt, overload, or reverse-engineer the service in order to evade these Terms.
- Do not automate around the published API limit or pretend to be the PCGDB website in order to do so.
- Do not frame or mirror the site so that it appears to be someone else's product.
- Do not use PCGDB to host, distribute, or pirate game software. We do not host game files.
7. Intellectual property
The PCGDB name, site design, original code, and the way samples are arranged are Musical Pig LLC property. Third-party game titles, logos, and artwork remain with their owners.
8. Copyright notices
Rights-holders who want a listing hidden, or who believe something on PCGDB infringes a copyright, should write support@musical-pig.com. The DMCA Policy explains what to include. We can omit a title from PCGDB pages without rewriting sampled charts.
9. Third-party sites
Links to Steam, publishers, app stores, and other sites leave PCGDB. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for them.
10. Limitation of liability
THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE". TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, MUSICAL PIG LLC AND ITS PEOPLE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICES OR ANY FIGURE SHOWN THERE, INCLUDING PRICES, PLAYER COUNTS, BUILDS, AND GUESSTIMATES.
11. Indemnity
You agree to defend and hold Musical Pig LLC harmless from claims and costs (including reasonable legal fees) that arise from your use of the Services or your breach of these Terms.
12. Changes
We may update these Terms. The new text is effective when posted on this page with a new Last Updated date. Continued use after that is acceptance of the update.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Courts in Pennsylvania have exclusive jurisdiction, except where applicable law says you may bring a claim in your own venue.
